Our Solar Energy Services
At Solar Sun Solutions we do not believe in an all or nothing approach, and are prepared to assist any client from starting with only a battery back-up to ending with a complete off-grid system if needs be.
We do residential, commercial and industrial solar solutions.
We provide various solar packages in order to meet each individual client’s needs. These include off-grid systems, grid-tied systems, hybrid systems and battery back-up only.
Off-grid system:
If you want to be completely off the grid, this is the option for you.
An off-grid system is not connected to the electricity grid and requires battery storage. These systems must be designed correctly in order to ensure that enough power is generated throughout the year and that the system has the necessary battery capacity to meet the client’s demand.
An off-grid system can be done in phases and an all or nothing approach is not applicable here.

Grid-tied system:
If you only want to save your electricity costs, this is the option for you.
A grid-tied system only consists of solar panels and a dedicated grid tied inverter. This system does not have a battery component and all the electric power generated by the solar panels feeds directly into your distribution board and offsets the power you would normally consume from the grid (Eskom).
It is noteworthy that, where allowed, the excess energy produced by the grid-tied system can feed back into the grid in which case you will be provided with credit from the service provider.
Hybrid system:
If you want to save electricity costs and not be affected by load shedding, this is the option for you.
For residential purposes, this is by far the best and most flexible option.
A hybrid-system is essentially a combination of an off-grid and grid-tied system. This means that your solar panels remain connected to the grid’s power and that you have a backup battery system to store the excess power produced.
Here it is also important to note that, where allowed, the excess energy produced by the hybrid system can feed back into the grid in which case you will be provided with credit from the service provider.

Battery back-up only:
If you had enough of load shedding but are not yet prepared to take the solar plunge, this is the option for you.
This system consists only of an inverter and batteries. The inverter will store the electricity from the grid in these batteries which can then be used in the event of load shedding.
Here it is noteworthy that one can easily start with a battery back-up only and gradually proceed to solar power.
